DTCSO 76818 from unit 1399 receiving cosmetic repairs at Eastleigh Works. S 76818 started out in unit 7397 and was built between 1970 and 1972 being part of Lot No. 30828. During the 19831984 Southern Region renumbering scheme, set 7397 became 1260 and then 1297 before the unit was converted to a 4BIG and numbered to 2256. Final refurbishment of the unit saw it lose the buffet car in favour of 4CEP trailer S 70508 from unit 7159 and an upgrade to Greyhound status and gaining its final set number of 1399. 19 January 2009 I had 21 runs off this unit totalling 441.
